Justin Thomas’ sales career was first propelled by his desire for a dirt bike. Nine-year-old Justin repeatedly asked his dad for a dirt bike. His dad’s answer was always “no.” Justin, as tenacious then as he is today, did not give up and became an expert at the art of badgering his dad for that coveted dirt bike. Eventually, his dad offered Justin a deal. If Justin could sell his dad’s boat, he could have the dirt bike. Justin surprised him by using his early sales skills to sell that boat within 24 hours. Justin not only had a dirt bike but a future in business.
Justin is a talented and seasoned executive in risk management, insurance, financial services, entrepreneurship, and distribution strategy. His vision, along with his strong business development and management skills, has made him an industry leader in organic insurance distribution growth, as well as selecting, developing, and motivating talent. Justin is experienced at managing P&L and Balance Sheets with a proven track record of profitable growth.
A graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, with a major in Management and a minor in Marketing, Justin was recognized for his academic achievement by earning a place on both the Dean’s List and the President’s List.
After graduation from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Justin began his career with Johnson Controls, where he successfully progressed from sales to project management. He moved from there to the Oil & Gas industry where he gained extensive experience in business development with OES Oilfield Services and Boots Smith Oilfield Services. At OES he led his three-member executive business development team to increase revenue from $3M to over $20M within the third-party inspection sector. Justin grew year-over-year revenue for both of these companies by 30%.
In 2015, Justin pursued business ownership through acquiring an agency with State Farm Insurance becoming one of the youngest agents to be appointed a contract. Within 12 months, Justin was ranked 4th in the country with State Farm. His numerous awards in the insurance industry include the SVP Club, 2x Leaders Circle Awards, 3x Ambassador Travel awards, and a 4x Legion of Honor Member. Justin holds Series 6, Series 63, Property & Casualty, and Life & Health licenses.
During his tenure with State Farm, Justin noticed that buying insurance could be an arduous process for customers. He established Your Policy in 2020 with the mission of removing the friction and adding convenience within the retail sector of the insurance industry. Your Policy connects technology and professionally licensed experts to help customers determine their insurance needs with less hassle and more happiness.
Justin, originally from Lafayette, Louisiana, is married to his wife, Heather, and together they have two daughters. Justin enjoys outdoor activities, such as, golf, tennis, and mountain biking.
